Journalist responds to Ethan Hawke: “Ethan saying I had an agenda was a bit patronising. I have a moral duty as a journalist and human being to ask about the silencing of artists and the lack of support for Palestinians”

I’m with the journalist on this one. Ethan has had multiple opportunities to take a clear position and hasn’t. His answers about politics on red carpets over the past year have been so vague that they, essentially, are meaningless.

  2. I can’t understand why these guys don’t prepare better for questions that are inevitably going to come up. They always do this deer in a headlight thing where they just have such poorly crafted responses. I don’t hold empathy for people of such significant privilege choosing to avoid these topics, I would understand more if it was one of the many atrocities happening that isn’t receiving this level of media coverage, but they aren’t ignorant to the Palestinian genocide at this point in time, they should at least have enough social awareness to be able to respond appropriately. Sorry to Ethan Hawke we aren’t focusing enough on what is important to him, but like? Come on man?

It’s definitely been interesting to see the disparity between artists and creators who speak out against ICE and the Trump admin. (which is a good thing), and those who refuse to comment on the atrocities happening in Gaza.
It’s always been noted that one of the traits of the Democratic Party is just how wide it’s umbrella can be in regard to the population, and how difficult it is to create solutions on various key issues due to this.
I think that’s something we’ve been seeing under a microscope since the start of the Trump admin.

Definitely going to be interesting to see how Progressive politics will choose to respond the next couple years

  4. Ah, yet another defensive man in Hollywood with shit morals.

The journalist must feel like he’s taking crazy pills. Here he is trying to do the actual job of a journalist and he gets positioned as the disrespectful one. Where is the integrity??

  5. Way to turn an actual news story into something about the journalist himself. Ethan Hawke seems like the one with an agenda here lol

This journalist’s duty was to ask this question. The way Ethan Hawke said “I feel like there’s a slight agenda to your question” was so fucking patronizing. That dude has no backbone.

Also his original comment didn’t even make sense. ‘You have an agenda that’s different to my agenda’ okay so you both have agendas? And you’re being pissy at the journalist for voicing theirs but you can voice yours? 🙄

Considering the Berlinale has been embroiled in people criticising its complete lack of support for Palestine, it’s kinda stupid to go and meet journalists without thinking of a proper comment about why you’re still showing up.

turns out the only way to get ethan hawke to STOP talking is to ask about his position on killing children for sport….everyone unfortunate enough to have to interact with him should use this every chance they get. how he has any fans left at all is baffling.

There was a time when celebrities weren’t asked questions like this because we all understood that they were typically just attractive bozos who had no valid opinions about anything other than maybe, maybe their craft. Those were the days.
