I did a bunch of concerts in college with my university’s Confucius Institute and developed a fondness of Chinese culture in the process. We provided the music for a lot of Chinese performers and it was awesome. I don’t know for sure why the Confucius Institute ended up closing down, but I think all the anti-China sentiment that came along with Trump’s first term had a lot to do with it.
Glad I was there while it lasted.

I remember when Wendy Wu came out EVERYONE was talking about how dumb it looked. Every single person in my school saw its premier and memed it out for homecoming week.

I watched with the sound turned off and I could STILL hear the gongs.
This would be like a Chinese network celebrating western new years by airing An American Tail 1 and 2, followed by three consecutive hours of King of the Hill, before capping it off with a little house on the prairie TV movie.
Which…yeah I would watch that. Or…six hours of twilight zone followed by watching Forrest Gump and mystery science-ing it the whole time? That too
