Spotify once again increases subscription prices. This is their fourth consecutive year increasing rates for premium subscribers
The US premium subscriber changes are as follows: Individual Plan $11.99->$12.99, Duo Plan $16.99->$18.99, Family Plan $19.99->$21.99, Student Plan $5.99->$6.99
So what? Pay the price or move along how else are artists getting paid? Bottlecaps?

I don’t understand why more people don’t use the family plan. You have five separate people with their own individual accounts and you don’t actually have to be family. I’m paying four dollars a month and I share it with four friends. There’s no way in hell I’d pay more than $10 a month for it if I had my own account.

I gave up waiting for a discount and started using the free version again. It’s fine. I don’t listen as much as I did when I had premium, but in the few hours I’m using it, I’m not really bothered. There isn’t a dramatic difference in sound quality and it’s really only annoying for playlist shuffle. But it’s fine if I just want to check out a new album or listen to some podcast episodes.

I cancelled my premium subscription today (been a paid subscriber since 2017 and a Spotify user since 2012). I switched to a YouTube Premium family plan with my spouse because although it’s a little bit pricier, you get more bang for your buck (no ads on YouTube videos and the separate YouTube Music platform).

I signed up for Spotify so early that it was still in beta mode, but finally swapped to Apple Music last year. I don’t love the interface of AM, it just doesn’t feel as intuitive to me, but the quality of the music **far exceeds** Spotify, the difference is night and day. I’d never go back.
