No cause of death was given but he had been battling colorectal cancer since 2023

    RIP

    Statement from his family:

    >”Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

He’ll anyways be remembered as his character in *Don’t Trust the B In Apartment 23*, James Van Der Beek

  4. Absolutely tragic. Even with the recent headlines about his illness, it’s shocking to see someone taken so young.

Dawson’s Creek one of my favourite shows…I love some teen angst and never really grew out of my love for it

  6. Damn. RIP James Van Der Beek, famous for playing James Van Der Beek on Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23.

  7. Caralho… I mean… damn, what a terrible loss. So young, with 6 young children. God bless him and his family.

  8. Dawson’s Creek was such a huge part of pop culture in the late 90s. I started watching it a few years ago and it’s a wild show but his sweet, innocent energy really kept it leveled. And of course we love a cinephile.

RIP to someone who was seemingly legitimately nice. And I always loved his cameo on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back!

  9. Varsity Blues is one of my favorite football movies and probably the one I’ve watched the most. Fuck cancer man. Be Heroic.

  10. I just read about the death of Bud Cort not two minutes ago, and now this. And you know these things come in threes.

  11. For a fat kid growing up in the 90s, Dawson’s bedroom was the height of cinephile class and interior design.

    RIP good sir.
