>”I’ve spent the last 8 to 10 years of my life with the writers & creators of Baldur’s Gate 3 and they’re the most incredible storytellers & creators in the space. Only hope is that they get both the credit deserved & the characters are represented at the same level as the game. The Chernobyl show was pretty good.”
Larian CEO Swen Vincke:
>”Crazy that a story that started out in a small hotel conference room eventually evolved into a narrative inspiring enough for it to become a HBO series.
>We worked incredibly hard on making Baldur’s Gate 3 worthy of its legacy. Its characters and narratives are the result of many teams working together and I think I can speak for them all in saying that they’ll think this is cool and hope that what comes next will enjoy the same level of passion.
>The endings of BG3 were created so they could serve as narrative soil for new adventures. There’s plenty of directions they could go. I’m eager to find out which ones Craig and his team will pick. He’s reached out for a chat so we’ll have the opportunity to tell him our thoughts.
>Crossing fingers that the story we’re cooking up for Divinity will eventually grow to the same heights. Certainly putting in the hours :)”
EDIT: people seem to be missing the fact that the show is directly continuing the story from the game (with old and new characters), so yes having writers or other Larian staff involved would be a smart thing to do.

The article also says mazin has reached out to them so they might be involved but that the upset people don’t care anyway because Druckman was involved in last of us. Basically the nerds are unhappy no matter what.

This is conjuring up controversy out of nothing. Larian has no ownership over Baldur’s Gate, they licensed a property and made a game and moved on. They’ve also stated they want to work on their own IP not somebody else’s now and are going back to the Divinity franchise.

Well we’ve already seen what happens when Mazin doesn’t fundamentally understand the characters and ruins foundational important aspects of the story EVEN WITH developers of the game involved (see last of us season 2) so this should go well.

Also, HBO was not involved in the development of the videogame BG3.

This is going to turn into another show that’s going to be critically and commercially successful with people on Reddit trying to convince me that no one likes it and it’s bad, actually.

Okay, they’re game developers, not show runners. You don’t necessarily have to have them in the mix, HBO makes excellent dramas and adaptations and I have faith in their ability to do well.
Druckmann was involved with The last of us and fans hate it (from S2), make up your mind guys.

I want to see more D&D shows and adventures in Baldur’s Gate. I look forward to see the new characters and adventures to come from this.

They aren’t TV writers. They would never have been involved in any scenario. People do not understand how TV works
