Paul Bettany as Chaucer is still one of the most charismatic performances in any movie. ‘My lords, my ladies, and everybody else here not sitting on a cushion!’ is such an iconic introduction.

Mixing modern aspects heavily with the medieval setting had to be done with such a delicate balance and they nailed it perfectly.
I don’t think there could be enough said about Ledger. He showed that he had the charisma to be a leading man in a big budgeted film or be a character actor in a supporting role. It didn’t matter, cause he was gonna crush it. I don’t think there’s any question that he could’ve been a perennial Oscar darling while also leading any blockbuster he wanted.

I legit just watched this today. It holds up. And James Purefoy tops my list of who should’ve played Doctor Doom.

Alan Tudyk has a podcast with Nathan Fillion called once we were spaceman, they had Mark Addy on. It was a great episode.
