  1. I haven’t seen it, but the ads don’t really make me want to see it.

I’m probably not the intended audience, watched TNG/DS9/Voyager on release.

    Lower Decks?  I liked.

  2. Duty, Honor, Service. I guess it didn’t reflect Paramount’s current values the way Landman did.

  3. To be fair, it’s also been very poorly advertised. The only time I’ve ever heard of this show has been when people are upset about it.

  4. I haven’t seen view ranking on Paramount+ in months. I have no idea what’s popular or not on the site.

  5. “Following Backlash”

    LOL

Following paramount making a show that nobody asked for that both patronizes legacy fans and throws melodramatic slop at the younger ones, the new Star Trek series Falls out of the Streaming Charts.

It’s literally a teen/young adult drama set in the star Trek universe. It’s not for the 60 year old star trek fan who wants to see Kirk and spock ham it up.

Why does everything have to be “Backlash!” or “Review Bombing!”?

    Maybe it just sucks?

I have not watched this. Honestly, to me, Star Trek is dead and they should finally bury it. But, I also realize this wasn’t made for people who liked Star Trek before it became the JJ and Kurtz wish they were making Star Wars thing it became now. This was likely made for what would’ve been the CW demographic before that network became the NASCAR ~~Xfinity~ O-O-O-O’Reilly Series and College Football Network, so there is most likely a niche out there wanting programming like this. It ain’t me, but if they like it, more power to ’em. Maybe it’ll lead ’em back to the good stuff and they’ll demand that going forward. Who knows?

But anyway, I go back to my first question… does it always have to be an organized conspiracy against a show when they fail or the overwhelming opinion is negative? Maybe they just suck.

Also using critics opinions is laughable, because as we all know, the majority of critics are bought and paid for, and will give nothing but glowing reviews to make sure they stay on the companies’ good sides so they keep getting pre-screeners and access and all the things that allow them to be “Critics”. So saying there must be some kind of organized review bombing because the people say it’s bad but the critics love it is just stupid.

  8. Ok, I’ve only seen the trailer. Why was it reviewbombed? The article doesn’t say anything about the reasons. Is it one of those ‘anti-woke’ movement things again?

It’s just not good. Turns out dumbing down Star Trek to cater to the tik tok generation was probably a bad idea.

  10. It was *on* the charts?

By the way, if you see more posts like this and a bunch of comments defending the marketing rather than the show, or trying to get you to read something to convince you rather than use their own words…let that speak seasons

    Edit: Good morning, language models!

  11. Nothing in the advertising made it look good. Reception has been fairly positive on r/startrek, but that place, like most fandom spaces, tends to be a hugbox with a lot of people that will like *anything* Star Trek.

Maybe they’re right and it’s better than it looks. Maybe not. I just know I have no interest in watching it. Paramount and Alex Kurtzman have killed my interest in Trek. That shouldn’t have even been possible.

  12. I don’t understand the team behind all these attempts at rebooting Star Trek. The Gem Z demographic they’re going for doesn’t care about the Star Trek IP and the demographic that does or at least used to care about it are tired of all the shitty writing and changing everything that made Trek unique.

  13. “following backlash” implies the backlash (i’m guessing the stephen miller, elon musk, general maga chud stuff?) is the reason. rather than it being a poorly marketed poorly written show that uses a very well established IP poorly.

if modern star trek writers represent “the left”, its cool that there’s so much reaching across the aisle to ensure that star trek now sucks

I’m going to get downvoted for this controversial opinion but it’s not that terrible, it has potential to develop into something decent.

To give this show some credit, hearing long time fans talking about how much better the older series were makes me want to finally commit to watching them

  16. I watched the first episode, felt like they passed the script around the room as no consistent characters. And throw in some humor because everyone loves the funny doctor…..

  17. I’m interested, but the general vibe is it will be more slop like Discovery and BNW rather than lower decks and picard s3, so I’m gonna go in with low expectations and hope for the best.

This almost 50 year old watched next gen when it first came out; fan of most of the series. Couldn’t stomach Discovery. Wife and I have watched first 3 eps of SA; it’s pretty watchable. Definitely not bad.
