It’s funny how she would make it sound like Rian was spooked, when she’s the one who pivoted entirely and brought back Abrams to undo all of The Last Jedi’s story. She had no vision for the sequels and is trying to rewrite that as she steps away.

The second stars Trilogy movie was not good. I choose to completely ignore the politics. The movie was still boring. The next even more so lol

  2. A high paid executive saying “Not my fault” as they run away with hundreds of thousands and a golden parachute? In the US?

The Force Awakens was the best of the sequel movies and The Last Jedi destroyed any momentum they had with this franchise.

  4. Russia was literally responsible for like 80% of all discourse about Kaepernick, Star Wars, and the Snyder Cut.

Go figure. Maybe ignore the vocal minority.

She’s absolutely right. I’m old enough to have been in the theater in ’77, and that was the first Star War in 30 years that interested me at all.

She really didn’t know what to do with the franchise sure she made some hits; andor, rogue one, mandolorian but all those ideas fell in her lap without her having any say in the development process. She had no vision or direction for the franchise just green lit everything and the misfires outweighed the hits so much that now the brand has lost its credibility or pull it once had.

Whoever decided not to give Finn a more important role fucked this trilogy, I don’t care who it is

I remember when I first saw it I didn’t care for it, but I watch it every few years and have grown to appreciate that he was trying to do something different with the franchise. The other two give me no desire to revisit them.

The Last Jedi might be the worst big budget movie i’ve ever seen in my life. an absolute insult to every fan, topped off with killing Luke Skywalker at the end

  10. The Last Jedi is my favorite of the sequels. 🤷😂. Awakens just felt like a retread to me and Skywalker was just bad in multiple different ways, the most frustrating was the clear retconning of last Jedi.

To be clear, I didn’t really like any of them but I enjoyed the last Jedi more than the other two.

Honestly, Trevorrow’s follow-up would’ve been a decent continuation and conclusion. But he was put in director jail after Book of Henry, and then the online backlash dictated the direction the franchise went.

It’s a shame. Johnson is incredibly talented. Even Trevorrow has made good movies.

  12. The movie had the same base plot as Speed. There were so many plot holes….it was a mess.

Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson are the most scapegoated people alive. I firmly believe the sequel trilogy’s failure rests pretty squarely on JJ Abrams’ “mystery box” slop

I feel like I live in fucking limbo anytime someone praises this movie. Just from an objective point view it seems to fail on so many basic levels.

  15. Last Jedi was simultaneously one of the most creative star wars movies (and perhaps the most visually stunning) and also the absolute worst. So many massive plot issues both isolated in the movie itself, the trilogy its a part of and the greater star wars universe. As a former star wars nerd, its my least favorite movie. That being said, I hoped Johnson would get his own series but just don’t give him any characters people love. Throw him a couple hundred years before/after the movies and let him do whatever, on board.

  16. Made a movie a that killed my enthusiasm for the future of Star Wars. He is trash and his admirers are cancer.

TLJ is one of the only Star Wars films I like. I’m glad Johnson didn’t go back for more, he deserves better and is crushing it with his current Benoit Blanc films

  18. I’m willing to accept that Last Jedi, in a total vacuum, was a decent movie (except maybe how it constantly undermined serious moments with a joke right afterwards), but it was not a good *Star Wars* movie.
